Use the lesson

  1. Listen to each separate scene and reset colleague A and colleague B before the next situation.
  2. Speak as colleague A during the eight silent reply windows. Keep the model hidden, then compare your reply with the complete original phrase.
  3. Answer the four meaning checks before the delayed answers. Use your own details in the two separate transfer prompts; these variations are written practice without new recordings.

Scene 1: Check in

A asks about a report and requests it that evening. B is almost finished; the conclusion remains. Sending before 18h is a fictional promise, not a demonstrated completed send.

A

Bonjour, où en êtes-vous avec le rapport ?

Hello, where are you with the report?

B

J'ai presque fini. Il me reste la conclusion.

I'm almost done. I just have the conclusion left.

A

Parfait. Pouvez-vous me l'envoyer ce soir ?

Perfect. Can you send it to me tonight?

B

Oui, bien sûr. Je vous le transmets avant 18h.

Yes, of course. I'll send it to you before 6 p.m.

Scene 2: Ask for clarification

New scene: A asks for clarification about checking the figures and proposes a comparison with the budget. B confirms the proposed step and asks A to report back; no completed check, format or deadline is given.

A

Excusez-moi, je n'ai pas compris la consigne.

Excuse me, I didn't understand the instruction.

B

Bien sûr. Vous devez vérifier les chiffres.

Of course. You need to check the numbers.

A

D'accord. Et je les compare avec le budget ?

Okay. And I compare them with the budget?

B

Exactement. Ensuite, vous me faites un retour.

Exactly. Then you give me feedback.

Scene 3: Propose an arrangement

New scene: A proposes dividing the work and a Friday check-in. B takes the first part and agrees to Friday. The dialogue does not assign A the second part or give an exact date, time or location; no real calendar booking is made.

A

On pourrait diviser le travail en deux parties.

We could divide the work into two parts.

B

Bonne idée. Je prends la première partie.

Good idea. I'll take the first part.

A

Parfait. On se retrouve vendredi pour faire le point.

Perfect. Let's meet on Friday to check in.

B

D'accord, à vendredi.

Okay, see you Friday.

Scene 4: Project review

Separate fictional project review, not the result of scene 1: the project is given as finished and deadlines met. Better communication and shorter meetings are future suggestions, not implemented improvements.

A

Le projet est terminé. Bravo à tous.

The project is finished. Well done everyone.

B

Merci. On a bien respecté les délais.

Thank you. We met the deadlines well.

A

Oui. La prochaine fois, on pourrait mieux communiquer.

Yes. Next time, we could communicate better.

B

Bonne idée. On peut faire des réunions plus courtes.

Good idea. We can have shorter meetings.
