Original Parle lesson with English captions, AI-assisted graphics and synthesized reference audio. One fictional AI-generated scene uses its original synthetic French dialogue audio twice. French and English manual captions are available. The first listening pass intentionally hides the transcript until the check. This free website lesson does not announce a new App release. Use the lesson
- Watch the first conversation without reading the models below. Listen for the day and the start time. Pause before the video reveals each answer.
- Use the two checks below, then replay the complete scene with French and English support. The speakers use informal tu.
- Say a short reply from memory: accept the invitation and ask the start time. Open the possible response only after your attempt.
Check what you heard
Choose before opening each answer. Replay the video if you need to listen again.
1. Which day is the party?
Vendredi (Friday) or samedi (Saturday)?
Check the day
Samedi. The invitation ends with samedi, and the guest confirms à samedi: see you on Saturday.
2. What time does it start?
18:00 (6 p.m.) or 20:00 (8 p.m.)?
Check the time
À vingt heures. The start time is 20:00, or 8 p.m. Chez moi means “at my place”; it gives the host’s place, not another time.
3. Accept and ask the start time
Your friend invites you. Say yes, then ask what time it starts. Give yourself about eight seconds, or longer if you need it, before opening the possible reply.
Compare a possible reply
Oui, c’est à quelle heure ?
Yes. What time does it start? Close the reply and say it again without reading.
Use it for another plan
A friend invites you to dinner. Accept and ask when it starts. Use the same question; this written variation has no separate recording. This page does not record or assess your voice.
Practise another time question in the free Numbers and time exercise.
